APAO Members Earn Diamond Achievement Commendation

The following APAO members have earned NAPA's Diamond Achievement Commendation for Excellence in Hot Mix Asphalt Plant/Site Operations. The Commendation is designed to recognize Hot Mix Asphalt (HMA) production facilities that operate in an exemplary manner.

The APAO Environmental Award recognizes hot mix asphalt production facilities that best demonstrate safe and responsible environmental practices. Facilities are judged on their clean operation, layout, noise and visual management, employee education and awareness programs, crisis management programs and public/community education awareness activities. "Earning the Diamond Achievement Commendation serves as a signal to neighbors that a HMA facility is a good neighbor," commented NAPA Chairman, David B. Carlson. 'The self-assessment process addresses six aspects of the plant/site: appearance, operations, environmental practices, safety, permitting and compliance, and community relations. By earning the Diamond Achievement, these companies have shown the community that they will go the extra mile for excellence."

The Diamond Achievement Commendation is earned through a self-assessment process, which is open to all in the Industry, regardless of whether they are NAPA Members. Participation is voluntary and is on a plant/site by plant/site basis. Nominations are verified by members of the local community and are evaluated by a nationally known independent assessment firm.

The Award is not a substitute for the exercise of company responsibility, including respect for environmental and safety issues; rather it is a celebration of recognized standards of excellence in plant/site operations."
