University Eligibility Requirements
HOT MIX ASPHALT SCHOLARSHIPS
B.S./B.A. DEGREE PROGRAMS
Eligibility:
Student must be a citizen of the United States. Student must be in good academic standing and agree to take a course in hot mix asphalt. Scholarships are eligible for renewal up to a maximum of 2 years. Preference will be given to students who show an interest in the design/construction of Oregon's highways and transportation facilities. Applicants must furnish a copy of their transcript. Scholarships will be awarded to students entering their junior; senior or fifth year of a Bachelor Degree program in Civil Engineering or a Bachelor Degree program in a construction related area at an Oregon university/college. Graduate students with their major focus of study related to asphalt and attending an Oregon university/college will also be considered.
Selection:
Selection of scholarship winners will be based upon:
- Application must be typed or printed clearly.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- There should be a demonstrated interest in a career in the transportation industry.
- Bachelor Degree students must have taken, or agree to take, a 2 to 3 credit hour course in hot mix asphalt. Questions concerning course availability or applicability should be directed to your dean or the Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon.
- Student's extracurricular activities will be considered.
- Although it is not a criteria, applicants should indicate if there is a need for financial assistance.
- Student must be in good academic standing with the university/college.
- Letters of recommendation are not required, but no more than two may be included.
- Scholarship will be awarded on December 5th, 2008 at the Asphalt Pavement Association of Oregon's annual business meeting in Portland. Recipient and their guest will be guests of the Association at this meeting.
